Italian Hercules aircraft crashes

An Italian military C-130 Hercules transport has crashed on take-off during a training flight near Pisa in the northwest of the country.

The Italian Air Force has revealed the aircraft hit the ground almost immediately after take-off and caught fire, killing all five people on board.

According to witnesses, the plane went into a spin after take-off and crashed shortly after.

The Italian military has recently suffered other losses in air accidents.

The most serious was 13 months ago when a helicopter crash claimed the lives of eight soldiers.
