No. 2 seed Elina Svitolina survived a scare from Poland's Magda Linette in the second round of the Internationaux de Strasbourg on Tuesday in France.
The Ukrainian eked out a tight first set and rallied from a double break down in the second for a 7-6 (0), 7-5 victory in one hour and 58 minutes.
"It definitely was not easy," said Svitolina, who fought off a set point in the second set. "She was fighting back. She was trying to produce at a good level. I was up and down."
Her quarterfinal opponent will be Switzerland's Jil Belen Teichmann, a 7-6 (3), 7-5 winner against Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
In other action Tuesday, No. 5 seed Elena Rybakina of Russia eliminated France's Alize Cornet 6-3, 7-6 (8), and China's Shuai Zhang defeated France's Clara Burel 6-3, 7-6 (3).
