France's Ugo Humbert stunned top-seeded Daniil Medvedev 6-4, 6-3 Tuesday in the first round of the Hamburg European Open in Germany.

Medvedev, ranked No. 5 in the world, was coming off a run to the U.S. Open semifinals. Humbert converted three of five break points to record the first Top 10 victory in his career.

"I know I can play very nice on clay," the 22-year-old Humbert said. "Daniil is a very nice player. I am very happy with my first Top 10 win and for sure, it was one of my biggest wins today."
