The Central Beach in Sveti Vlas has once again secured the prestigious Blue Flag certification, maintaining its place among the beaches that meet some of the highest environmental and safety standards on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast.
The internationally recognized eco-label is awarded after an independent evaluation covering a broad range of requirements. These include the cleanliness and quality of seawater, visitor safety measures, the condition of beach facilities, environmental education activities, and the overall management of the site.
Representatives of the beach concessionaire welcomed the latest recognition, noting that the standards required by the Blue Flag program are implemented consistently throughout the year. According to them, the certification serves as an important benchmark that allows local beaches to measure their performance against leading coastal destinations around the world.
?We are proud of this recognition, but for us it is above all a responsibility,? the management stated. ?The Blue Flag is not simply an award; it is a commitment to our guests. Tourists deserve a beach that meets European standards.?
The concessionaire also emphasized that maintaining those standards requires continuous investment in facilities and maintenance. ?Every year we invest significant resources in infrastructure and beach maintenance. The Blue Flag confirms that these efforts are worthwhile,? the statement added.
The distinction is not a new achievement for the beach. Sveti Vlas Central Beach has earned the certification on numerous occasions, reflecting its ability to consistently comply with the program's demanding requirements. To receive the award, beaches must satisfy 32 separate criteria related to environmental protection, safety, visitor services, and sustainable management practices.
Bulgaria currently has 26 Blue Flag locations, with three of them situated in Sveti Vlas, underlining the resort's strong reputation for maintaining high-quality coastal facilities.
Water quality remains one of the key factors in retaining the certification. At Central Beach, seawater is tested in laboratories twice each month to ensure it meets strict standards. Hygiene is further supported through regular disinfection measures and the availability of sufficient waste collection facilities throughout the area.
Accessibility has also been incorporated into the beach's infrastructure. Visitors with disabilities have access to specially adapted sanitary facilities as well as ramps designed to facilitate movement across the site.
The beach is fully prepared for the summer season. Since June 1, lifeguards have been on duty, supported by designated rescue stations and the necessary safety equipment. Visitors also have access to umbrellas and sun loungers, while management has complied with the requirement that at least half of the beach area remain freely available to the public without restrictions.
The latest Blue Flag award confirms that Central Beach in Sveti Vlas continues to meet internationally recognized standards for environmental quality, safety, accessibility, and visitor comfort, reinforcing its status as one of Bulgaria's leading seaside destinations.
