Czech Center in Sofia to Close After 77 Years of Cultural Activity

The Czech Center in Sofia will cease its operations and end its cultural and educational activities in Bulgaria, following a decision by the Director General of the Czech Centers Network.

The announcement was made in a farewell message addressed to partners, collaborators and the public, in which the institution expressed regret over the closure.

Despite the decision, the center confirmed that it will continue to carry out its planned program until the end of May. Information about the remaining events has already been published on its , and the institution invited the public to attend the final activities.

In its message, the team also thanked partners and the media for long-standing support over many years of cooperation and cultural exchange.

The center highlighted its long history, noting that on May 5 it will mark 77 years since its establishment. It described itself as the oldest Czech institution of its kind abroad and one of the longest-running foreign cultural organizations operating in Bulgaria.

It concluded with appreciation for the sustained engagement it has received throughout its existence, underlining the significance of its role in promoting Czech culture in Bulgaria.
