The Bulgarian Ministry of Justice has appointed Eliana Ilieva as the new Executive Director of the Registry Agency, following an order issued on May 21, 2026. Deputy Justice Minister Iva Kecheva formally introduced her to the agency's staff, according to the ministry.
Ilieva is a lawyer with extensive experience in administrative and procedural law, public procurement, and the management of complex administrative processes. She holds a Master of Laws degree from Southwestern University ?Neofit Rilski? and has completed multiple specialized trainings in areas including European policies, procurement procedures, financial management, and data protection in the context of artificial intelligence, including international programs in Thessaloniki and Maastricht.
Her professional career began in the public sector as a legal advisor at the Regional Directorate of Forestry between 2005 and 2008, where she worked on administrative and criminal procedures, procurement processes, and legal representation. She later served from 2008 to 2016 as head of the Legal and Regulatory Services Department at the Serdika Regional Administration of Sofia Municipality, where she coordinated legal activities and participated in the management of key administrative operations.
From 2016 until her current appointment, Ilieva worked as an attorney at the Sofia Bar Association. In that role, she provided legal consultancy to both public and private clients, worked on European-funded projects, and represented clients in civil, labor, and administrative cases.
The Ministry of Justice highlighted her broad expertise in legal services, administrative coordination, European program management, and procedural representation, as well as her established organizational and leadership capabilities.
